More about the event:

Lowe's helped launch National Women Build Week in 2008, and each year provides the support of Lowe's Heroes and conducts how-to clinics at stores throughout the year to teach volunteers construction skills so they can feel equipped and take part in the builds. ·This year, National Women Build Week will reach the milestone of having engaged 100,000 women from all 50 states since 2008. Lowe's donated nearly $2 million to support Habitat's 2017 National Women Build, which will take place in 300 communities nationwide. More than 17,000 women, including Lowe's Heroes volunteers from across the country, are expected to volunteer at construction sites as part of Habitat's 2017 National Women Build Week. Locally, Habitat for Humanity of the Rio Grande Valley expects over 75 individuals to volunteer in support of this project.

This year, we are honoring Kathy Preddy at the event. Kathy was instrumental in expanding the mission of HFH to include Harlingen while she was the president of the Rotary Club of Harlingen. She was inducted in 1998 into the first class of two women to join the all men's Rotary Club of Harlingen. She serves on many different non-profit boards, including HFHRGV, and was inducted into the Harlingen Walk of Fame in 2016.
